Maria Ruas´ Mathematical connections Terence Gaffney´s Mathematical connections About the Worskhop:
International Workshop on Real and Complex Singularities has
been established as one of the key events for people working on singularity
theory, algebraic geometry, bifurcation theory and related
areas. It brings together world experts and young researchers to report
recent achievements and exchange ideas, addressing trends of research in
a stimulating environment. This
time it will be significantly special to all of us, for we are
celebrating the 60th birthdays of Maria Aparecida S. Ruas (Cidinha) and
Terence Gaffney, as well as the 10th edition of our biennial The workshop. The first seven and the ninth workshops took place in São Carlos. The eighth one was at the CIRM, Marseille, France, under the name "VIIIème Rencontre Internationale de São Carlos sur les singularités reelles et complexes au CIRM". Proceedings
of the workshops have already been published: 1992: M. A. S. Ruas (Ed.), Workshop on Real and Complex Singularities, Matemática Contemporânea, Vol. 5, Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática, Rio de Janeiro (1993). 1994:
