Dear colleague,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the "13th International Workshop on Real
and Complex Singularities" which will be held in São Carlos,
Brazil, from the 28th of July to the 1st of August 2014. In this ocassion we will be
celebrating the 60th birthday of María del Carmen Romero Fuster
(Universitat de València, Spain).
The São Carlos workshop on Real and Complex Singularities has established itself as one
of the key events for people working in Singularity Theory, Algebraic Geometry,
Bifurcation Theory and related areas. It brings together world experts and young
researchers to report recent achievments and exchange ideas, adressing trends of
research
in a stimulating environment.

Following the past edition in 2012, there will be a School of Singularities during the
week after the Workshop, from the 4th to
the 8th of August 2014. The School will consist on 4 mini-courses of Master/Ph.D. level
and there will be time for short presentations for
young students.

The website with some provisional information and the poster can be accessed following
this link:

/main_site/2014/public/

The registration form will be on the workshop webpage soon. We encourage anyone who
wants to participate to fill in the registration form as
soon as possible. There will be some space for parallel lectures and posters during the
Workshop. The deadline for submission of talk/poster is
31st of May 2014 and the deadline for registration is 30th of June 2014.

Even though the Workshop and School will take place a few weeks after the world cup, we
recommend participants to book their flights as
soon as possible. We are planning on having some transport with fixed timetables from
the airport of Guarulhos in São Paulo to São
Carlos and back on the weekends before and after the Workshop. The idea is to have a bus
/car leaving Guarulhos at 9:00, at 20:00 and one in between
those two, both on Saturday and Sunday, but this will depend on the number of people
arriving at those times. It is early to know
for sure, but as in past editions, we hope to have some funding to cover local expenses
for most participants. However, we would appreciate
if anybody can use their own funding, since that will allow us to help more students
and young researchers.

We will have a list of plenary lectures for the Workshop and of mini-courses during the
School soon.

Further informations will be sent at a later date. Please resend this announcement to
anyone who may be interested and (as usual) sorry for cross-posting!

We hope to see you all in São Carlos next year, best wishes,

Ana Claudia Nabarro and Raúl Oset Sinha (on behalf of the Organizing Committee).
